Carneversation with Noémie Hémery

July 2025
Carneversations are a chance to get to know the incredible people who power Carne. This month, we sat down with Noémie Hémery, Head of Legal in Luxembourg. Noémie shares her story, discusses the values that drive her, and brings to life the notion of work life balance.
Q: Can you tell us about your role at Carne, and what drew you to that part of the business?
A: Certainly! Nearly eight years ago, I joined Carne as Head of Legal, drawn by the opportunity to help shape a business that was clearly on a dynamic growth path. From the outset, my vision was to build a robust and engaged legal team that could both support and keep pace with Carne’s rapid expansion. Time has truly flown by; over the years, I’ve had the privilege of onboarding numerous funds and supporting the business through significant transformation. Today, as the leader of a strong and capable legal team, my focus has shifted towards advocating for our people, driving transversal projects, and improving our team’s day-to-day experience. It’s deeply rewarding to be able to dedicate my energy not only to technical excellence but also to fostering the growth and cohesion of the team as a whole.
Q: Which of Carne’s values resonates with you the most?
A: Carne values resonate deeply with me Discipline truly shapes my approach as a lawyer. To me, Discipline is the compass that guides every decision and action—seeking absolute clarity, cultivating simplicity from complexity, and ensuring nothing is left to chance. It means respecting and protecting time, prioritising with intention, keeping promises, honouring commitments, and communicating with precision. In my role, Discipline is more than a principle—it is the very safeguard of the business, underpinning organised and transparent processes and reinforcing our collective trust. By refusing to cut corners and upholding the highest standards, I find that Discipline brings not only structure and security, but also a sense of serenity—knowing that every action has been carefully considered and executed with integrity.
Q: How do you define success at work?
A: For me, success at work is best defined by the team I’ve had the privilege to build—a group that is not only strong and reliable, but also genuinely supportive of one another. This has been my most important challenge and, ultimately, my greatest achievement, as I believe true serenity at work comes from knowing you’re surrounded by people who have your back. I’m incredibly proud that our team is not only efficient, professional, and highly qualified, but also kind, funny, and generous in spirit.
What makes this experience even more meaningful is the opportunity to work closely with other Carne teams and locations, sharing the legal team’s expertise and learning from others in return. I am a firm believer in getting up, walking the floor, or picking up the phone to connect directly—nothing replaces real conversation and collaboration. “Teamwork makes the dream work” is more than just a motto for me; it’s an approach I strive to embody every day, fostering an environment where open dialogue and collective effort lead to the best outcomes for everyone.
The cohesion and camaraderie we’ve fostered make every challenge feel surmountable, and every success that much more meaningful.
Q: If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
A: U2 Beautiful Day: This song is telling us about life’s reality. It will be filled with obstacles, but as much as possible, seize every chance you get to see the beauty in the middle of hard times. But if we talk music, favourite band ever is “Queen”!
Q: What is your favourite way to spend a weekend?
A: My ideal weekend is spent with my family and our dog, simply enjoying time together at home. I might be out in the garden or busy with chores—I tend to be quite energetic and enjoy building things —while my husband prepares an amazing lunch and/or dinner. I’d take the dog for a walk, go running in the forest with the kids riding their bikes, and wrap up the weekend with all four of us playing tennis.
Q: Share something people would be surprised to know about you.
A: As I mentioned, I’m quite energetic and love being hands-on, whether it’s assembling furniture or tackling home projects. I’ve even started teaching my daughter some of these skills, while my husband shares his love of cooking with our son. I’m also enthusiastic about trying all kinds of sports. Each year, a friend and I sign up for a sports weekend that challenges us physically for a good cause—supporting breast cancer awareness. For the past two years, we’ve spent three days in the Alps, taking on winter sports like biathlon and cross-skating, which was an incredible experience. This year, the event will be in the south of France and will include mountain biking, kayaking, and running—more of a classic challenge, but I’m truly looking forward to it!
Q: What is your favourite way to unwind during the summer?
A: Travel, for me, is a gateway to freeing the mind, escaping the ordinary, and truly feeling alive. Whether it’s a quick city break, a spontaneous road trip, or an adventurous holiday, trying new places always gives me fresh perspectives. Now that the kids are getting older, I’m eager to explore the world as a family, discovering new foods, meeting people from different cultures, and experiencing breathtaking landscapes together.
Q: What is your life motto?
A: I suppose it’s no surprise that I’m the kind of person who tries to lift everyone’s spirits, every single day. My friends often say that my go-to response is, “It will be okay.” I genuinely believe that things will turn out all right—but only if you really mean it and are willing to put in the effort to make it happen.
