In this month’s Carneversation, we sat down with Anuj Mehtani, Senior Manager in our Enterprise Risk Management team, based in Dublin. Anuj shares his journey into the world of risk, what drew him to the heart of strategic decision-making, and the mindset that helps him stay curious, collaborative, and always moving forward.

Q: Tell us about your role at Carne, and what drew you to that part of the business.

A: I joined Carne in 2023, looking for a role where I could feel truly valued and contribute meaningfully to an organisation’s risk management efforts. What attracted me to Enterprise Risk Management was the opportunity to work at the heart of strategic decision-making, helping the business navigate uncertainty and build resilience. Since joining, no two days have been the same — each day brings new challenges and opportunities to make an impact.

Q: Which of Carne’s values resonates with you the most?

A: The value that resonates most with me is togetherness. At Carne, collaboration is at the core of how we work — not just in supporting the organisation, but in how we show up for each other as colleagues. That sense of unity and shared purpose is something I deeply appreciate and strive to contribute to every day.

Q. What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?

A: The best career advice I’ve ever received was to focus on adding value, not just ticking boxes. It reminded me that real impact comes from understanding the bigger picture and thinking beyond the task at hand. That mindset has helped me approach challenges with curiosity and purpose — especially in risk management, where the ability to connect dots and contribute meaningfully is key

Q. Who would play you in a movie about your life?

A: Honestly, I think I’d play myself — especially after my Oscar-worthy performance earlier this year in one of our Carne videos! But if Hollywood insists, maybe Ryan Reynolds could step in…some people say I have his humour and look like him.

Q. What is your life motto?

A: My life motto is: Stay curious, stay kind, and keep moving forward. I believe that curiosity keeps us learning, kindness keeps us grounded, and progress — even in small steps — keeps us growing. It’s a mindset that’s helped me both personally and professionally.
