Peter Heaps

A Managing Director in Carne’s Cayman Islands office since 2009, Peter is an experienced director with appointments to boards of hedge funds, private equity funds and traditional investment funds. With over 30 years’ experience in the asset management industry, Peter is familiar with a broad range of sophisticated investment strategies as well as the critical fund operations underpinning them. Peter works with leading financial institutions and is highly experienced in governance, compliance, operations, credit, risk, and product development. He has worked alongside institutional, boutique, and emerging alternative fund managers.

Peter was Managing Director and country head at RBC Dexia in Ireland, where he initiated and managed the operational risk and new business implementation departments. Before this he was a Director of HSBC’s fund administration business in Ireland, with responsibility for European client relationships in alternative fund services. He also established and managed the credit origination department. Prior to this, Peter was Managing Director of Bank of Bermuda’s fund administration business in Guernsey. He also held senior roles with Gartmore, where he was operations manager, company secretary, and a compliance officer.
